Opened in 1932, this is a much smaller station than the one at Tanjong Pagar, and the only other extant railway station in Singapore. Passenger services at this station ceased after Singapore's expulsion from Malaysia, as customs and immigration were set up at Tanjong Pagar, but it continued to function as a passing loop station, where train drivers would exchange tokens with the station master, until the railway was shut down in 2011. The station has been restored and is today part of the Rail Corridor.
